2012 Australia Total Solar Eclipse
We are working on an Australian program for this eclipse. On November 13, 2012 to total solar eclipse begins at sunrise in the far northern reaches of Australia. At maximum eclipse the duration of the total phase exceeds four minutes.

I am sure many of you would, (but some hesitate because they don’t believe they are knowledgeable enough or won’t fit in.)
The truth is, you don’t have to be technically savvy to enjoy the wonders of the cosmos, and you don’t have to have a PHD in cosmology to understand it.
When you stand in the shadow of the moon for the first time, you will feel what many civilizations have felt before you. It is the wonder and awe of the mechanics of the solar system playing out before you at a total eclipse of the sun.
You’ve seen pictures of 'eclipse chases' and their equipment and say, it costs too much to get started.
The good news is you need less than five dollars in equipment to view a total eclipse of the sun.
At a dark sky location, planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies and clusters will all be visible to the naked eye.
I can recall wanting to know more about the night sky, astronomy and space travel but I was afraid I didn’t belong because of the fact that mathematics wasn’t and still isn’t my forte.
I read everything I could on the subject of astronomy, and as far as space travel I was a child of the space age and the race to the moon.
Eventually you will want to add to your enjoyment with the appropriate telescope or other equipment and AstronomyTravel.ca will help you choose the right product.
In 1984, I decided to build a telescope after ordering a book from a series on how to build your own telescope ...The project went great. I didn’t have a finder yet, but was ready to look at the moon. It seemed easy but without a finder even pointing at the moon was difficult. Finding the planets nebulas and galaxies that were too faint to see with the naked eye was impossible. Let’s face it, the skies in suburbia are not astronomy friendly.
Well ..... it’s no longer the early eighties, and money can buy you all kinds of gadgets to help you find the jewels hidden in the night sky of the city.
The cold hard truth is that after using many telescopes, visiting star parties and joining a club, my introductory star maps and first scope are still my favourites.
Over twenty-three years since building that first scope and over sixteen years since traveling to my first total eclipse of the sun, my passion for amateur astronomy is still going strong.
The only thing that has changed is ...
that my wife and I have united passions!!!
I love astronomy ... and ..
she loves travelling, and she is a professional travel consultant (who's now also a big fan of amateur astronomy.)
Together, we have formed AstronomyTravel.ca to meet the needs of the astronomy community for stargazing travel.
We provide vacations with unique itineraries to stimulating locales around the globe.
Brenda has over a decade of experience in customer service, with several years in the travel industry. In today’s world, where customer service is not a high priority, she can offer you an unparallelled vacation experience with personalized attention to detail.

My opportunity came to view a Total Solar Eclipse in Egypt in 2006. The 360 degree sunset, the coolness of the air, 1,000's of people gasping in awe. Tears streamed down our faces and everyone in our group 'Thanked ' us like we had something to do with it ...I am still not sure it wasn't a dream ! "
