Egypt is a land where ancient legacies combined with adventure, fantastic weather, stunning scenery and warm, friendly people that will draw you in.
The ancient temples, monuments and treasures that can be found in Egypt have attracted visitors for centuries. Archaeologists, historians, scholars and the everyday tourist are still drawn to the country referred to as the 'cradle of civilizations'. There is simply no place on earth that comes close to offering as much history and culture, or so many remarkably preserved ancient artifacts and structures.
Thinking back to our flight over Cairo and viewing the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Kephren and Menkaure from above, one can only wonder what is in store for the rest of the tour ?
They have set up a great area to take group shots with the Pyramids in the back drop. And a place to ride and/or get your picture taken on a camel !
I was surprised to see they allowed us to climb on the pyramid, and descend into a shaft below to a chamber. An experience I will never forget.
Watching the city of Cairo come alive at night from our balcony, the traffic flow, people walking and hearing the 'call to prayer' was all new to us.
A trip to Egypt would not be the same with out visiting a papyrus store, purchasing their fine linens & seeing a carpet factory in full production.
One of our tours we were offered to have a cartouche created of our name. I wear my cartouche with pride.
A a little bit of Egypt ...just for me.
